About the Position: Responsible for providing data management support for the clinical staff of the University Counseling Center, as well as the greater Dean of Students area. Executes and maintains all information systems for the University Counseling Center and Center for Student Wellbeing, including the electronic medical record (EMR) system, PyraMED.

Characteristic duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Management and maintenance of comprehensive University informationresource, ensuring consistency and integrity of data

  • Oversees collection and reporting of complex, related information.Interprets data, including statistical values, and provides advice and consultationregarding implication

  • May make recommendations for adjustments. Conducts needsassessments, designs and creates databases, surveys, and participates intesting and implementation of new applications and/or enhancements andmodifications to existing systems.

  • Provides assistance and training to system users.

Key Functions andExpected Performance :

  • Provides technical support and data management to the UniversityCounseling Center (UCC) and the Student Care Network.

  • Managesall information systems utilized by the University Counseling Center, andserves as the first-line expert for the Electronic Medical Record(PyraMED) for the University Counseling Center and Center for StudentWellbeing.

  • Providessupport for information technology systems in the University CounselingCenter, and provides ongoing training for UCC staff.

  • Managesall University Counseling Center data in accordance with relevant HIPAAand FERPA requirements.

  • Analyzesprocesses for systems improvement, and creates standard operatingprocedures for data management to be utilized within the department anddivision.

  • Trainsstaff on appropriate data management practices.

  • Developsknowledge and skill new computer applications as needed.

  • Provides data analysis and relevant reports based on derivedinformation.

  • Synthesizeslarge and disparate sources of information and data to communicate themost relevant information and produce succinct recommendations.

  • Determinesappropriate data points necessary in reports for the institution andexternal accreditors (i.e., APA, APPIC); designs and administers surveytools and/or accesses existing data sources to gather requiredinformation.

  • Providesstatistics on utilization rates, creates workflow documents, and makesrecommendations on process improvements.

  • Implementsplanned analyses, including data verification and data correction asnecessary, accessing multiple data sources and using appropriatestatistical analysis software for the management and analysis of data;

  • Providesbroad analytical support to the Dean of Students, Student Care Network,University Counseling Center, and Center for Student Wellbeing

  • Workscollaboratively with Dean of Students departments to develop and conductassessment projects for evaluation and improvement of programs, includingconsulting on the development of initial survey instruments, collectingand analyzing data; assessing trends, and disseminating results.

SupervisoryRelationships :

This position does not have supervisory responsibility; this position reports administratively and functionally to the Director of Assessment and Special Projects in Dean of Students.

Experience and Education :

  • A Bachelor’s degree froman accredited institution of higher education is required.

  • 5 years of related workexperience is required.

  • One year work experiencein IT Healthcare Information, or related field is strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency withspreadsheets, word processing, relational databases, and statisticalsoftware is required.

  • An understanding ofprivacy issues and HIPAA and FERPA compliance is required.

  • Meticulous attention todetail and organization is required.

  • Ability to verify datainput and correct errors is required.

  • Ability to interact withstudents, faculty and/or staff in a team environment is required.

  • Knowledge of currenttechnological developments/trends in area of expertise is stronglypreferred.

  • Ability to provide arange of systems training and/or support activities for users is stronglypreferred.

  • Ability to analyzeoperational data requirements and to create and develop databases specific torequirements is strongly preferred.
