Position Summary:

The Learning Consultant is part of the Business Process Optimization (BPO) team at Vanderbilt University and is responsible for training, communications, and user support of Vanderbilt’s Oracle Cloud Finance and Human Capital Management (HCM) system. Reporting directly to the Director of Learning and Communications Strategy, the Learning Consultant will develop and deliver communications and training for Vanderbilt users for our business systems and processes.

The Business Process Optimization team is charged with working strategically across the university to build efficient, repeatable business processes, training the community on system changes and best practices, and maintaining Vanderbilt’s Oracle Cloud system. The BPO team is highly collaborative, with a culture focused on supporting each other in getting the right work done the right way.

The Learning Consultant enjoys teaching and learning, as a significant portion of this position is spent interacting with Oracle Cloud users, whether in a classroom setting or through providing on-going support in other settings. In addition to classroom instruction, the Learning Consultant will review, update and create interactive teaching materials to grow and implement Vanderbilt’s Oracle Cloud learning programs. Additionally, on-going assessment of the effectiveness of training methods and programs is required.

  • Develop and deliver Oracle Cloud Training courses, reference resources, and materials

  • Maintains a thorough understanding of Oracle Cloud system functions and related business processes

  • Build collaborative relationships with internal subject matter experts, content owners, cross-functional teams and business leaders to determine user performance objectives

  • Create and present training plans, including the recommended approach (e.g., instructor-led, online, blended), course outlines/storyboards and learning activities

  • Build and maintain eLearning modules in accordance with training plan(s)

  • Create and facilitate instructor-led courses and related materials in accordance with training plan(s)

  • Publish and manage learning materials in the online Learning Management System

  • Provide ongoing support to participants subsequent to class

  • Evaluate ongoing training applicability and effectiveness

  • Assess the effectiveness of a learning program

  • Create course assessments, review results and make recommendations for improvements, as applicable

  • Conduct follow-up assessments and periodic course reviews to determine the continued applicability of course material

Supervisory Relationships :

This position does not have supervisory responsibility. This position reports administratively and functionally to the Associate Director of Learning and Communications.

Experience and Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree is required

  • Advanced degree and/or professional certification preferred

  • 2+ years of relevant experience is required

  • Excellent written communication required

  • Excellent presentation skills required

  • Experience with e-learning and creative software (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Adobe Creative Cloud) is required

  • Proven experience managing multiple projects with overlapping timelines

  • Use of modern Finance and/or Human Resources system experience preferred; Oracle Cloud HCM, ERP, P2P, PPM experience is highly preferred
