About the Role:

The ideal candidate will have an MS/MA in a geospatially-related field, with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: GIS software development, spatial statistics, cartography and visualization, remote sensing, and geospatial database administration.

Experience with Coding systems, especially Python, is necessary.

BS/BA level applicants with requisite professional experience may also apply.

About the Work Unit:

The Vanderbilt Initiative for Interdisciplinary Geospatial Research (VIIGR) is looking to hire a full-time geospatial research analyst. The research analyst will work on diverse research projects including, but not limited to, areas in public health, epidemiology, educational policy, earth and environmental science, environmental justice, civil engineering, and anthropology.

Duties andResponsibilities :

  • Act as a consultant for developing and aiding in theexecution of geospatial research projects

  • Work directly with faculty in formulating appropriategeospatial methodology and aid in the execution of projects

  • Work extensively with geospatial and remote sensingsoftware, including ArcGIS, QGIS, PostgreSQL/PostGIS,GRASS, ENVI, photogrammetric software, including AgisoftPhotoscan

  • Manage the Spatial Analysis Research Laboratoryequipment including hardware and software forworkstations, laboratory server, plotter printer, and fieldequipment

  • Act as the basic server administrator and consultantfor all laboratory issues, upgrades, equipment, etc.

  • Perform and maintain basic accounting for thelaboratory

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in a geospatially-related fieldis required.

  • Previous experience is preferred.

  • Master's degree in a geospatially-related fieldis preferred.
